FUN DAY 23 SEPTEMBER 2018

We had a great day on Sunday 23rd September 2018 at our last game of the outdoor season.

It rained most of the morning so many of us wondered if we would be getting to play on the green!    How could we ever doubt it -  the sun shone all afternoon.    It was so funny to see the outfits some of the players turned up in.  Andy Hunt, our Chairman, worked out the order of play and after drawing out the position you were to play, and rink you were to play on, we set out to play five ends.  After five ends we drew our position/rink again, and another five ends were played.    In total we played 15 ends.   It was definitely not an afternoon to take seriously, and the scoring turned out to be a challenge.   We had a feast in the clubhouse after the game as each member had bought along a 'plate of food' and there was masses to eat.

Congratulations Ann Styles who was the deserving winner.   Nick Aldren also took a prize for winning by default (dodgy scorecards).   Mick Whyton won the Spider, someone jokingly said it was the closest he had got to the jack all season!

We said a sad goodbye to Clive Graves who played his last game with the club before he moved to North Devon.  Neil Holman our fixtures secretary, and a mastermind at composing verse, had put together a brilliant poem to mark Clive's time with us and his bowling career.   Not a dry eye in the house...   good luck from us all Clive x
